Unfiltered Family Adventures
Welcome to the chaotic, beautiful reality of Wandering Wagars – Adventure Family Travel. I’m Kevin Wagar, an award-winning travel journalist, photographer, and publisher. This is the story of my family’s travels, both domestic and abroad. I’m not here to sell you picture-perfect vacations. Heck, I’m not here to sell you anything at all. Instead, I’m here to offer advice and a wealth of family travel experience.
More than two million people have followed this family travel blog through the sweat, the spills, and the unforgettable thrills of exploring the world with children and multi-generational travel. I bring 15 years of family travel experience to the table, specializing in real-world adventures. The kind where plans change at the drop of a hat and unexpected detours become the best stories.
Think: cramming six family members in a mini-van and chasing Greek mythology on a road trip, getting bumped by massive hammerhead sharks while snorkeling in the Galapagos Islands, navigating ancient ruins with a baby hanging off of your chest, and exploring your own backyard to discover the things that most locals completely miss.
I’m sharing the lowdown on the hidden family travel destinations, the travel gear that can handle anything, and survival guides for when things go sideways—because they often do. Join my family and me as we hack our way across the globe, one gloriously messy adventure at a time.
Recognized for Storytelling, Content, and Photograph

Since this website was launched in 2015, Wandering Wagars – Adventure Family Travel has been honored with more than eight awards from prestigious organizations such as the Society of American Travel Writers and the Travel Media Association of Canada for the quality of its content. You can read more about Kevin’s writing, photography, and achievements on his website here.
While awards are certainly appreciated, the true reward comes from connecting with you, our readers, and igniting the spirit of exploration within families. In a changing world where AI has made it a challenge to recognize truth from fiction, we’re committed to continuing to deliver high-quality content that informs, inspires, and encourages you to discover the wonders of our world. Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Real-world family travel hacks with no filters. I’m sharing the grit and glory of globetrotting as a family. Dealing with the unexpected, packing tips, and what it’s really like flying with a toddler. 30 years of travel, 15 years of family adventures – learn from our messy, unfiltered expeditions.
Beyond the tourist traps: real destinations, real experiences. I’m sharing hidden beaches where the kids can run wild, trails that challenge your stroller skills, and street food that’ll redefine ‘family dining.’ 30+ countries with kids, countless detours, and a mission to find the adventures you won’t see on postcards.
Travel gear that won’t quit, and hotels that actually let you sleep. Every year, I test the pack-and-plays, strollers, and gadgets that survive real-world family adventures. Plus, honest hotel reviews for parents who need more than just a mint on the pillow. Find the gear and the accommodations you need to tackle the globe.
