When it comes to the most popular places for families to travel in Canada, Toronto always sits near the top of the list. As someone who has lived in the city and within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for nearly 30 years, I can confirm that exploring Toronto with kids is pretty awesome.
When I moved to the Toronto suburb of Brampton just before the birth of my first son, I knew that Toronto was a place I’d continue to spend a lot of time in. In fact, it’s still one of my favorite staycation destinations.
So whether I’m visiting for Labour Day Weekend in Toronto or simply spending a few days chilling out on the Toronto Islands, I’m always looking to book great family-friendly hotels in Toronto.
Luckily, Toronto has some amazing hotels that cater to families. Each one has its own unique features and amenities that help them stand out from the crowd. And I’ve stayed at all of them.
Whether you’re spending a weekend shopping, dining, or checking out Toronto’s amazing attractions, I’ve got the best Toronto hotels for families listed right here.
These hotels are spread throughout the city, so location definitely plays a role in choosing the best hotel for you.
The Westin Harbour Castle/Westin Toronto
Considered one of the city’s most established hotels, The Westin Harbour Castle, or “Westin Toronto,” as it’s commonly known, is one of the only waterfront hotels in Toronto. The hotel was starting to feel a bit dated, but a load of investments have been poured in to help the hotel celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025.
The hotel is being completely renovated with upgraded rooms, a pool area, and a lobby. Westin, which is owned by Marriott, is undergoing a big push to appeal to family travelers and is pushing to become the go-to hotel in Toronto for families.
They have both large family suites and connecting rooms available, as well as a “Kids Club” with board games, a movie theatre, and popcorn. The pool is one of the best in the cities as well. It’s in a huge atrium connecting the hotel’s two towers and features special lounge chairs and tents just for little ones.
The Westin isn’t just great for families either. There’s an excellent fitness room, a very good breakfast buffet, and a wellness room and yoga studio with a full-length interactive Lululemon workout mirror.
The biggest draw of the Westin is its location. It’s located right beside the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, which can take visitors out to the Toronto Islands (my personal favorite place in the city). You’re also within walking distance of the famous Distillery District, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, and the Rec Room, some of the most popular places to visit in Toronto for families.

Chelsea Toronto
If you’re planning on spending time exploring downtown, the Chelsea Hotel Toronto is one of my favorite family-friendly hotels in Toronto. This long-standing hotel is located within easy walking distance of the best shopping in Toronto. It’s just a few minutes from the Eaton Centre, Yonge and Dundas Square, Yonge and Bloor, and the Queen Street shopping district.
The Chelsea is also fantastic for families wanting to experience some of the great shows and theater happening in the city, most of which take place on either Yonge Street or King Street, not far from the hotel.
The Chelsea Hotel has an awesome supervised kids’ club with aquariums and terrariums, games, and a movie area to relax in. It’s conveniently situated right by the pool, which has both a hot tub and a three-story water slide that actually goes outside of the hotel walls.
The Chelsea doesn’t have an included breakfast buffet, but it does have an amazing marchee that can be included as a package, as well as an excellent hotel restaurant called the Elm Street Bar & Lounge. If you visit during the warmer months, check out the marchee’s patio; it’s gorgeous. There is also a second pool for adults only upstairs.
Don’t miss tasting the hotel’s honey. It’s actually collected from beehives on the hotel roof and processed by a small shop out in Mulmur, Ontario where the boys and I had the chance to be beekeepers for the day.
The Chelsea Hotel is also great for families in Toronto during special occasions like Labour Day and March Break, when there are often special experiences in the hotel, like photo booths, a roaming interactive robot, and treat stations.

Four Seasons Hotel Toronto
If arts and culture is your scene, the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto suits the bill perfectly. This hotel, located in the hip Yorkville neighborhood, is one of the most posh family-friendly hotels. But its location is really what sets this hotel apart.
The Four Seasons is located within easy reach of the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Bata Shoe Museum, the Gardiner Museum, and Yonge Street shopping.
This family-friendly Toronto hotel goes out of its way to ensure that kids feel welcome. This includes amenities like child-sized robes and slippers. They also have a beautiful pool and hot tub, as well as some of the most comfortable mattresses of any Toronto hotel chain.
Kids always get a welcome gift and freshly baked cookies and milk. There are also complimentary toiletries specifically focused on the health and comfort of both babies and children. Don’t miss the complimentary popcorn for the in-room movie night.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto
If you’re in Toronto for a sports event, there is nothing more convenient for families than the Delta Hotel Toronto. This hotel is in a busy place during special events. It’s steps from the Rogers Centre, where the Blue Jays play; it’s a hop from Scotiabank Arena, where both the Raptors and the Toronto Maple Leafs Play; and it’s a skip away from the CN Tower and Ripleys Aquarium.
The hotel is directly connected to Union Station, so families have very easy access to all of downtown Toronto, all the way out to North York, Vaughan, Scarborough, and all of the things to do in Mississauga, the city next door. Union Station even connects to Toronto Pearson Airport via the Union-Pearson Express train for those flying into or out of the city.
Just across the road is Roundhouse Park with its historic train and streetcars, where you can play all day at the Rec Room, or the adults can grab a drink at Steamwhistle Brewery.
The Delta is one of Toronto’s newest family hotels. Its modern design is fun and funky, the rooms are updated and tasteful, and they even have larger suites with tables perfect for a family dinner.
The pool and hot tub at the Delta are gorgeous and have views looking out over the city. There’s also a fantastic rooftop patio, so you can safely watch the crowds from the game without worrying about getting separated.

Hilton Toronto Airport
If you’re looking to make a quick stopover in the city and you need easy access to Toronto Pearson International Airport, the main airport in the city, you still have some options for hotels with family amenities in Toronto.
Most of the hotels near Toronto Airport are very focused on business travelers, and there aren’t many amenities available that will appeal to families. While this is true for many hotels, the Hilton Toronto Airport still managed to squeeze in a few family-friendly perks into their airport hotel.
They have large suite rooms so you can get a little time apart and a large atrium with a pool so the kids can have a little space to relax and play before the big flight. You can also hop aboard the Union-Pearson Express train if you want to spend a little time in downtown Toronto.
